Ken Perlin, a CS professor at NYU, was founding director of both the Media Research Laboratory and the NYU CAT. Research: graphics, animation, user interfaces, science education, multimedia. Awards: Academy Award (1997), Featured cyber-artist at Whitney Museum (2004), NYC Mayor's Award (2002), Presidential Young Investigator Award (1991), Sokol Award (2002), TrapCode Award (2006). Education: Ph.D. in Computer Science from NYU (1986), B.A. in theoretical mathematics from Harvard (1979). Industry: Head of Software Development at R/GREENBERG Associates (1984-1987), System Architect for computer generated animation at MAGI (1979-1984). He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the NY Software Industry Association.
